Matches to Make After UFC Fight Night 239

UFC Fight Night 239 wasn’t a star-studded affair, but it doesn’t mean the latest Ultimate Fighting Championship event won’t have repercussions for the months to come. The main event saw heavyweights Tai Tuivasa and Marcin Tybura face off, and there was also a key women's bantamweight showdown earlier in the night. Here are five matches to make after “UFC Vegas 88.”

Marcin Tybura vs. Jailton Almeida

Tybura got back into the win column with a first-round submission win over Tai Tuivasa. The Polish heavyweight has now won three out of his last four fights, with the lone defeat being to Tom Aspinall. A good follow-up fight would be against Almeida, who had his impressive 15-fight win streak snapped last week in a loss to Curtis Blaydes. This would give "Malhadinho" another proper test, while also giving Tybura (25-8) a chance to get a win over another contender as the 38-year-old doesn’t have time to waste. It’s perfectly matched for a Fight Night main event.

Bryan Battle vs. Ange Loosa

"The Ultimate Fighter" Season 29 winner Battle fought to a no contest against Ange Loosa after an accidental eye poke ended the fight. The two almost came to blows afterward, with Battle (10-2, 1 NC) saying Loosa (10-3, 1 NC) quit. Considering there is now bad blood, and it didn’t get a proper finish, why not run it back? This would give a chance for Battle to actually finish the fight, rather than by jamming his thumb in his opponent’s eye and allow for Loosa to show that he does want the smoke from “The Butcher.”

Ovince St. Preux vs. Ryan Spann

St. Preux proved he still has more left in the tank despite being 40 with a unanimous decision win over Kennedy Nzechukwu. Having already conquered one Fortis MMA member, it would be interesting for “OSP” to go up against another light heavyweight out of Texas in the form of Spann. St. Preux (27-17) and Spann (21-9) are both 2-2 in their last four fights, although "Superman" has been going up against tougher competition. Coming off defeats to Anthony Smith and Nikita Krylov, this would give Spann a chance to avenge his teammate and also get back into the win column.

Christian Rodriguez vs. Darren Elkins

After back-to-back weight misses at 135 pounds, “CeeRod” moved up to featherweight and took a hotly disputed split decision over Isaac Dulgarian. A win is a win and now Rodriguez (11-1) is in a good spot in the division. A fun fight for the 26-year-old would be against divisional mainstay Elkins. "The Damage" holds a 28-11 record but has won two out of his last three, including wins over T.J. Brown and Tristan Connelly. It'd be a welcome scrap on the main card of any UFC Fight Night event.

Macy Chiasson vs. Mayra Bueno Silva

Chiasson submitted Pannie Kianzad with a rear-naked choke in their rematch. With the win, Chiasson (9-3) is now a top female fighter at bantamweight. The 32-year-old would serve as a fitting bounce-back fight for Bueno Silva, who is coming off a title loss to Raquel Pennington. It would either get "Sheetara" (10-3-1, 1 NC) back on track or establish the American as a title contender and on the shortlist for a title shot.
