K-1 HEROs Announces 154-lb. Tournament Matches

TOKYO, July 26 — K-1 MMA promotion HERO’s announced in a press
conference today official brackets for the upcoming HERO’s
“middleweight” (70 kilograms, 154 pounds) tournament quarterfinals
and semifinals, which will be held September 7 at Ariake Colosseum
in Tokyo, Japan.
The tournament breaks down like this:
Hermes Franca
(Pictures) vs Koutetsu Boku (Pictures)
Sam Greco (Pictures) vs. Shungo Oyama (Pictures)
Akira Kikuchi (Pictures) vs. Kiuma Kunioku (Pictures)
Yoshihiro Nakao (Pictures) vs. Fai Falamoe
Quarterfinals:
Genki Sudo vs. Kazuyuki Miyata
Remigijus Morkevicius vs. Hiroyuki Takaya
Norifumi Yamamoto vs. Royler Gracie
Caol Uno vs. Hideo Tokoro
Semifinals: Winner of Sudo-Miyata vs. Winner of Morkevicius-Takaya
Winner of Yamamoto-Gracie vs. Winner of Uno-Tokoro
“Kid” Yamamoto, Genki Sudo and Caol Uno are all seeded into the upcoming round. Yamamoto decisioned Ian Schaffa on July 6. Both Uno and Sudo were scheduled for the first round of the tournament, but both suffered injuries before the July 6 event.
Sudo’s last MMA match was on March 26 against Ramon Dekker, while Uno is coming back to the HERO’s ring after suffering a brutal knockout thanks to a Joachim Hansen’ knee.
The tournament finals will be decided at “Dynamite” on New Years Eve.
