BetUs.com lists Holland as a -170 favorite for the UFC on ESPN 42 main event, with Thompson as a +140 underdog. In the co-headliner, dos Anjos is favored at -550, with Landwehr coming back at +375.

Thompson, who turns 40 in a little more than two months, finds himself in a bit of a late-career tailspin after back-to-back losses. The affable South Carolina native last competed at UFC Fight Night 199, where he wound up on the wrong side of a unanimous decision against former Titan Fighting Championship titleholder Belal Muhammad on Dec. 18. Thompson owns an 11-6-1 record in the UFC.

Holland has won two of his past three bouts. The 30-year-old Travis Lutter protégé last appeared on Sept. 10, when he succumbed to a brabo choke from the undefeated Khamzat Chimaev in the first round of their UFC 279 co-main event. Holland carries a 10-5 record in the UFC.

UFC on ESPN 42 “Thompson vs. Holland” also features a flyweight affair matching Matheus Nicolau (-380) with Matt Schnell (+280), a heavyweight scrap pitting Sergei Pavlovich (-230) against Tai Tuivasa (+180) and a pair of middleweight tilts, as Jack Hermansson (-190) meets Roman Dolidze (+155) and Kyle Daukaus (-230) faces Eryk Anders (+180).
