Ultimate Fighting Championship matchmakers did not provide Frankie Edgar with a soft landing for his long-awaited move to the bantamweight division.
The former lightweight champion and featherweight contender will collide with Pedro Munhoz in the UFC on ESPN 15 headliner on Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Winless since April 2018, Edgar finds himself reeling from back-to-back losses to Max Holloway and Chan Sung Jung. Meanwhile, Munhoz has not fought since he saw his three-fight winning streak grind to a halt in a unanimous decision defeat to Aljamain Sterling at UFC 238 a little more than a year ago.
UFC on ESPN 15 “Munhoz vs. Edgar”—which airs live on ESPN at 8:30 p.m. ET/5:30 p.m. PT—features a light heavyweight co-main event pitting Ovince St. Preux against Alonzo Menifield, along with a light heavyweight showcase matching Mike Rodriguez with Marcin Prachnio, a women’s flyweight tilt pairing Mariya Agapova with Shana Dobson and a welterweight affair slotting Daniel Rodriguez opposite Dwight Grant. The five-fight undercard, anchored by Amanda Lemos-Mizuki Inoue at 115 pounds, will stream to ESPN+ at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT.
