How to Watch UFC Fight Night 167
The
Ultimate Fighting Championship dangles the same carrot in front
of Corey
Anderson and Jan
Blachowicz: a possible shot at reigning light heavyweight
titleholder Jon Jones.
Anderson will rematch Blachowicz in the UFC Fight Night 167 headliner on Saturday at the Santa Ana Star Center in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, as the two men attempt to make their case to be considered the No. 1 contender at 205 pounds. Meanwhile, “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 1 winner Diego Sanchez meets Michel Pereira in the three-round welterweight co-main event.
A protégé of onetime Pancrase
champion Ricardo
Almeida, Anderson finds himself on a four-fight winning streak.
“The Ultimate Fighter 19” winner last competed at UFC 244, where he
cut down Johnny
Walker with punches in a little more than two minutes on Nov.
2. Anderson, 30, has compiled a 10-4 record since he joined the UFC
roster some six years ago, emerging as one of the company’s top
light heavyweights. He defeated Blachowicz by unanimous decision in
their first encounter on Sept. 5, 2015.
Blachowicz has won six of his last seven bouts, a technical knockout loss to Thiago Santos the only hiccup. The 36-year-old former KSW titleholder last appeared on Nov. 16, when he eked out a split decision over Ronaldo Souza in the marquee attraction at UFC Fight Night 164. Victories over Luke Rockhold, Jimi Manuwa, Jared Cannonier and Ilir Latifi anchor Blachowicz’s extensive 33-fight resume.
UFC Fight Night 167—which streams to ESPN+ at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT—also features a women’s flyweight affair matching Montana De La Rosa with Mara Romero Borella, a flyweight tilt pitting Rogerio Bontorin against Ray Borg and a pair of lightweight confrontations, as Brok Weaver faces Rodrigo Vargas and Lando Vannata battles Yancy Medeiros. In addition, ESPN+ (5 p.m. ET/2 p.m. PT) will stream the entire seven-fight undercard.
