The Ultimate Fighting Championship’s first pay-per-view of the year is set to take place in Melbourne, Australia, with the middleweight title on the line.
The main event will feature Robert Whittaker looking for his first title defense (his second fight against Yoel Romero was not a title defense due to Romero missing weight) when he takes on Kelvin Gastelum. Their feud has been brewing ever since the two coached on “The Ultimate Fighter 28.”
Whittaker is currently riding a nine-fight winning streak while being undefeated at middleweight. His last two wins were against Romero and haven’t fought since June of 2018. Meanwhile, Gastelum is riding a two-fight winning streak with wins over Ronaldo Souza and Michael Bisping. He will also be fighting for the belt for the first time in his career.
The co-main event features the former middleweight champion, Anderson Silva taking on rising star, Israel Adesanya.
The UFC 234 main card airs live at 10 p.m. EST (7 p.m. PST), live on pay-per-view. The fight pass prelims will be live at 6:15 p.m. EST (3:15 p.m. PST), while the main prelims will be live on ESPN at 8 p.m. EST (5 p.m. PST).
