Brian Ortega now holds a 2-0 advantage over reigning Ultimate Fighting Championship featherweight titleholder Alexander Volkanovski on Season 29 of “The Ultimate Fighter” reality series.
After Team Ortega’s Liudvik Sholinian took a unanimous decision from Mitch Raposo and eliminated the top overall pick to advance to the bantamweight quarterfinals, attention shifts back to the middleweight division for Episode 3. There, Ryder Newman will try to get Team Volkanovski off the schneid at the expense of Tresean Gore. A decorated amateur wrestler, the 26-year-old Newman trains out of Xtreme Couture in Las Vegas. Gore, who trains alongside former Bellator MMA champion Douglas Lima at an American Top Team affiliate in Atlanta, owns a perfect 3-0 record as a professional.
Episode 3 of “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 29 streams to ESPN+ at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT on Tuesday.
