Floyd Mayweather Promises Knockout
Aug 25, 2017 Comments
(SPONSORED CONTENT) -- The man known as Money has gone
on record saying that there’s a “100% chance that this fight don’t
go the distance” which essentially insinuates the idea that he’s
going to win via knockout. Oddsmakers at BetOnline.ag have agreed with this sentiment,
listing a Mayweather victory by knockout as the most likely outcome
since the matchup was announced way back when.

It’s an interesting take given that Mayweather hasn’t scored a
knockout in a fight since 2009, when he dismantled Ricky Hatton in
one of the more exciting fights of his career. Since that win,
Mayweather has been involved in some very boring fights with his
supposed retirement match against Andre Berto drawing just over a
half-million pay-per-view buys.
That’s not the way a career like Mayweather’s is supposed to end. The win over Berto effectively tied Mayweather with Rocky Marciano for the best boxing record ever. Maybe Mayweather thought that people would tune in to see that regardless of his opponent because he’s truly that big of a star.
The memory of that fight, however, is one that has frustrated sport fans for years. Along with the snooze-fest he put together with Oscar De La Hoya in 2007, Mayweather has submitted some known stinkers with his brawl against Canelo Alvarez standing out as one of his more thrilling endeavors.
"I'm doing this for myself and my family, but I want to give everyone a great show," Mayweather said at a press conference. "Everyone deserves a good show. The Pacquiao fight wasn't exciting enough. That was on Pacquiao, but I have to give the fans a great show this time."
A great show usually entails fighters going after one another, and that’s what the plan sounds like. Of course, we’ve been sold this before and been disappointed, but the stakes for Conor McGregor would hopefully indicate that it’s worth it for him to go after Mayweather early and often.
Pursuing Mayweather has been a fruitless strategy for almost all of his opponents, but that’s what makes McGregor such an enthralling opponent. His knockout power is proven, his speed is very good and he has a size advantage in this fight that’s been undersold to a large extent.
However, there’s no underselling just how good Floyd Mayweather has been. There’s a massive probability that he took this superfight with Conor just to end his career on the biggest stage possible. Conor can get you those pay-per-view buys, and the pairs of eyes that come with them.
Maybe that’s all Mayweather was hoping for…to go out with a bang for all the world to see. We’ll find out on Saturday.

But that’s not the fight game anymore. The Money Fight is getting a
prop market to sell over 5 million pay-per-views at BetOnline.ag to give you an indication of how
massive the draw is estimated to be. The reigning top-draw was the
Pacquiao-Mayweather fiasco which brought in 4.6 million
viewers.
