What looked like a forgettable performance for Jairzinho Rozenstruik changed to a highlight reel knockout in a matter of seconds.

Down on the scorecards and with time running out, Rozenstruik knocked out Alistair Overeem with a massive right hand with just four seconds remaining in the UFC on ESPN 7 headliner in Washington, D.C., on Saturday night. Rozenstruik’s final salvo split his opponent’s lip wide open while improving his career mark to 10-0. Overeem, meanwhile, had a two-fight winning streak snapped in the most cruel fashion possible.

Here is a by-the-numbers look at UFC on ESPN 7, with statistics courtesy of UFCStats.com.

4:56: Official time of Rozenstruik’s knockout, tying it with Frankie Edgar’s stoppage of Cub Swanson at UFC Fight Night 57 for the third-latest stoppage in UFC history. Two bouts — Demetrious Johnson vs. Kyoji Horiguchi at UFC 186 and Yair Rodriguez vs. Chan Sung Jung at UFC Fight Night 139 — ended at the 4:59 mark of Round 5 to earn the honor of latest stoppage.

4: Consecutive victories for Rozenstruik, the longest active winning streak in the heavyweight division. His string of four straight KO/TKO wins is the longest active knockout streak in the promotion.

89: Significant strikes landed by Rozenstruik. By comparison, Overeem landed 74. Rozenstruik picked up the pace in Rounds 4 and 5, outlanding his foe by a 51-to-29 count.

.700: Significant striking accuracy for Overeem, who was his typically efficient self in landing 74 of 105 attempts. Rozenstruik landed 89 of 209 significant strikes, a 42 percent success rate.

2: Takedowns landed in 10 attempts for Overeem, the most of the Dutchman’s UFC tenure and the most he has landed in a bout since he also landed two in a no contest against Mirko Filipovic under the Dream banner in September 2008.

2: Majority draws at UFC on ESPN 7 after both Cynthia Calvillo vs. Marina Rodriguez and Cody Stamann vs. Yadong Song both ended with the same result. UFC on ESPN 7 joins UFC 22 and UFC 216 as the only three cards in promotion history to feature two draws.

39: Significant strikes by which Calvillo outlanded Rodriguez during a furious third-round rally. Calvillo dominated the frame from top position and outlanded her foe 44 to 5 in significant strikes and 73 to 5 in total strikes.

51: Significant strikes landed by Rodriguez in Rounds 1 and 2 combined. Calvillo landed 34 significant strikes over that same timeframe.

17: Significant clinch strikes for Rodriguez. Calvillo, meanwhile, landed two.

46: Significant ground strikes for Calvillo. Rodriguez did not land a single significant strike on the canvas.

3: KO/TKO wins for Aspen Ladd in UFC competition following her finish of Yana Kunitskaya. That ties her with Ronda Rousey and Germaine de Randamie for the second most in the history of the women’s bantamweight division behind only Amanda Nunes (six).

69: Total strikes by which Cody Stamann outlanded Yadong Song in their featured bantamweight clash. A late surge wasn’t enough to earn Stamann a victory, however, as their fight ended in a majority draw. Song held a slight edge in significant strikes over the first 10 minutes, outlanding his foe by a 24-to-22 total.
5: Takedowns landed in 12 attempts for Stamann. Song did not officially attempt a takedown in the fight.

10: Takedowns successfully defended in 16 attempts by Rob Font in a unanimous decision triumph over Ricky Simon at bantamweight. Font was able to keep the contest upright long enough to outland his opponent by a 90-to-59 count in significant strikes.

2-6: Record for former welterweight title challenger Thiago Alves since May 2015. The 36-year-old Brazilian was submitted in the opening stanza by Tim Means on Saturday night.

71: Significant strikes by which Billy Quarantillo outlanded short-notice foe Jacob Kilburn in their preliminary featherweight clash. Quarantillo outlanded his foe by a whopping 68-to-0 count on the ground before submitting his foe with a triangle choke at the 3:18 mark of Round 2.

5: Submission attempts by Quarantillo. The Dana White’s Contender Series alum also passed guard nine times in victory.

2: Twister submissions in UFC history after Bryce Mitchell executed the maneuver on Matt Sayles in their preliminary featherweight encounter. The first occurred when Chan Sung Jung tapped out Leonard Garcia with a twister at UFC Fight Night 24 in March 2011.

177: Total strikes landed by Joe Solecki in a lopsided unanimous decision victory over Matt Wiman at lightweight. By comparison, Wiman landed just 20 strikes. Solecki landed four of his five takedown attempts and held a 48-to-6 edge in significant ground strikes in the contest.

3: Submissions attempted by Virna Jandiroba en route to a second-round rear-naked choke victory over Mallory Martin at strawweight. Jandiroba also landed three takedowns and passed guard five times before earning the tapout at the 1:16 mark of Round 2.

91: Significant strikes landed by Makhmud Muradov in a third-round knockout victory against Trevor Smith at middleweight. Muradov outlanded his foe 24 to 9 in Round 1, 35 to 17 in Round 2 and 32 to 13 in Round 3. Advertisement
