Jan Blachowicz made sure the sequel was nothing like the original.

The Polish light heavyweight may have established himself as the division’s clear No. 1 contender with a first-round knockout of Corey Anderson in the UFC Fight Night 167 main event at the Santa Ana Star Center in Rio Rancho, N.M., on Saturday night. Not only did Blachowicz avenge a previous loss to Anderson, but his impressive victory came with reigning champ Jon Jones sitting cageside, perhaps setting up a future date with “Jones” later this year.

Here is a by-the-numbers look at UFC Fight Night 167, with statistics courtesy of UFCStats.com.

7-1: Record for Blachowicz since October 2017. The 36-year-old Pole began his promotional tenure with losses in four of his first six appearances — including a defeat at the hands of Anderson — before going on his current tear.

13: Significant strikes landed by Blachowicz. Anderson, meanwhile, landed 11.

84: Significant strikes landed by Anderson in his first meeting with Blachowicz, a three-round decision win at UFC 191 in September 2015. Blachowicz landed just 20 significant strikes in defeat. Anderson also held a 4-to-1 edge in takedowns landed in the contest.

2: Bouts that ended via disqualification at UFC Fight Night 167, making it the first event in promotion history to have two bouts on the same card end in that manner. Both Michel Pereira vs. Diego Sanchez and Kazula Vargas vs. Brok Weaver ended prematurely due to illegal knees from Pereira and Vargas.

53: Significant strikes landed by Pereira in their welterweight co-main event encounter. Sanchez, meanwhile, landed just 25. Pereira held an 18-to-2 edge in significant strikes in Round 3 before connecting with the illegal knee that resulted in his disqualification.

0: Takedowns landed in six attempts for Sanchez, who was known for his wrestling during his rise to prominence in the UFC. Interestingly enough, Pereira was successful on both of his takedown attempts.

6:22:07: Total fight time for Sanchez, who moved ahead of Jeremy Stephens and into fourth place among all UFC fighters behind Frankie Edgar (7:15:51), Rafael dos Anjos (6:43:11) and Demian Maia (6:32:06).

10: Takedowns landed in 19 attempts for Ray Borg in a unanimous decision victory over Rogerio Bontorin at flyweight. That’s most ever landed by Borg in 11 Octagon appearances. His previous best of seven takedowns occurred in a loss to Casey Kenney at UFC on ESPN 2.

32: Career takedowns in UFC flyweight bouts for Borg, the fifth most in the history of the division.

3-1: Record for Borg in UFC bouts in which he has missed weight. “The Tazmexican Devil missed weight by two pounds on Friday.

99: Significant strikes landed by Lando Vannata in a unanimous decision triumph over Yancy Medeiros. That is the second-highest total of Vannata’s UFC tenure. By comparison, Medeiros landed 68. “Groovy” outlanded his opponent 29 to 23 in Round 1, 34 to 21 in Round 2 and 36 to 24 in Round 3.

71: Significant strikes landed by Scott Holtzman in the final two rounds of his lightweight encounter with Jim Miller. Miller, by comparison, landed 38 significant strikes during that period after outlanding his opponent 20 to 17 in Round 1. That push propelled Holtzman to a decision triumph.
