The 28-year-old was victorious in his home country on Saturday, as he defeated Calvin Kattar via unanimous decision in a spirited three-round affair at UFC Fight Night 163 in Moscow. As one of the top contenders in the division, Magomedsharipov will be an interested observer when Max Holloway defends the 145-pound belt against Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 245 next month.

Here is a by-the-numbers look at UFC Fight Night 163, with statistics courtesy of UFCStats.com.

6: Consecutive triumphs for Magomedsharipov, tying him with Arnold Allen for the second-longest active winning streak in the UFC’s featherweight division. Reigning champion Max Holloway is No. 1 with 13 straight wins.

14: Straight professional victories overall for Magomedsharipov. That streak dates back to Sept. 2013 and includes stints in four separate organizations.

96: Significant strikes landed by Magomedsharipov, one shy of his promotional best. The Dagestani landed 97 significant strikes in a decision win over Kyle Bochniak at UFC 223. Kattar, meanwhile, landed 80 significant strikes.

44: Significant strikes landed by Kattar in the third round, when he picked up the pace in hopes of pulling off a victory. Magomedsharipov slowed somewhat in the frame and landed 30 significant strikes. Kattar also held a 91-to-34 edge in total strikes landed in the period.

36: Significant leg strikes landed by Magomedsharipov. By comparison, Kattar landed just six.

86: Significant strikes landed by Alexander Volkov in a clear-cut unanimous verdict over Greg Hardy in the heavyweight co-main event. By comparison, Hardy landed 46. “Drago” landed 44 significant strikes to the head, 26 to the body and 16 to the legs. Hardy, meanwhile, landed 23 to the head, 13 to the body and 10 to the legs.

5: UFC bouts for Hardy in 2019. The American Top Team member took the fight against Volkov on 22 days’ notice following the withdrawal of teammate Junior dos Santos. Hardy went 2-2 with one no contest in those fights.

43: Significant clinch strikes landed by Ed Herman in a decision victory over Khadis Ibragimov at light heavyweight. All told, Herman landed 81 significant strikes, while Ibragimov landed 53.

5-1: Record for Anthony Rocco Martin in UFC bouts since 2018, which was when the American Top Team representative transitioned from lightweight to welterweight. Martin outpointed Ramazan Emeev in a featured 170-pound contest on Saturday.

0: Takedowns landed in nine attempts for Emeev against Martin. Emeev failed on three tries in each period. The Dagestani fighter had landed at least one takedown in his first three Octagon appearances — all decision victories.

8: Unofficial media scorecards, of the 13 tracked by MMADecisions.com, that scored the light heavyweight fight between Shamil Gamzatov and Klidson Abreu in favor of Abreu. However, Gamzatov officially emerged with a split-decision triumph, earning 29-28 scorecards from judges Howard Hughes and Paul Sutherland.

32: Significant strikes by which Gamzatov outlanded Abreu. Gamzatov outlanded his opponent in every frame, while Abreu secured the bout’s only takedown in round two.

38: Significant strikes by which Magomed Ankalaev outlanded Dalcha Lungiambula en route to a knockout victory via front kick 29 seconds into the third frame. Ankalaev held a 44-to-6 edge in significant strikes and a 91-to-13 advantage in total strikes landed.
