By the Numbers: UFC Fight Night 236

Jack Hermansson slammed the gate shut on Joe Pyfer.

The Swedish veteran weathered a strong early push from Pyfer, then pulled away over the final 15 minutes for a unanimous decision triumph in the UFC Fight Night 236 headliner at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas on Saturday night. Pyfer, a Dana White’s Contender Series alum, entered the matchup on a three-fight finishing streak in UFC competition, but he faded when he was unable to put his opponent away in the early going. Hermansson, meanwhile, has yet to lose back-to-back fights during his 17-bout Octagon tenure.

6: Career knockdowns for Dan Ige, who had a brutal knockout victory against Andre Fili in the UFC Fight Night 238 co-main event. The Dana White’s Contender Series alum put his opponent away 2:43 into the opening stanza to win for the third time in his last four outings.

5: KO/TKO victories since 2020 for Gregory Rodrigues, the most in the UFC’s middleweight division during that time. “Robocop” defeated Brad Tavares via TKO 55 seconds into Round 3 on Saturday night. In addition to Tavares, Rodrigues has stopped Denis Tiuliulin, Chidi Njokuani, Julian Marquez and Jun Yong Park over that period.

24: Octagon appearances for Tavares, tying him with Michael Bisping for the most in UFC middleweight history.

4: Takedowns landed in eight attempts by Michael Johnson in a three-round verdict over Darrius Flowers at lightweight. That’s a UFC career high in 29 appearances for “The Menace,” whose previous best of two came against Joe Lauzon in August 2013.

36: Significant body strikes — out of 61 total — landed by Johnson. Flowers landed 33 significant strikes — nine to the body — in defeat.

4: Victories via arm-triangle in UFC competition for Rodolfo Vieira, a promotional record. Vieira used the maneuver to dispatch Armen Petrosyan 4:48 into Round 1 of their featured middleweight bout. “The Black Belt Hunter” has also used the arm-triangle choke to dispatch Cody Brundage, Saparbek Safarov and Oskar Piechota in the Octagon.

5: Submission victories in UFC competition overall for Vieira, tying him for the third most in the history of the middleweight division.

7: Consecutive KO/TKO victories for Carlos Prates, who defeated Trevin Giles via second-round knockout in his Octagon debut on Saturday night. Prates has finished 13 of his 18 professional triumphs via KO or TKO overall.

31: Significant strike advantage for Giles before he fell victim to a Prates left hand at the 4:03 mark of Round 2. For Prates, that’s the third-largest significant strike deficit for a winner in UFC welterweight history.

101: Significant strikes landed by Marcin Prachnio in a unanimous decision win over Devin Clark. That’s the second most of Prachnio’s nine-bout UFC tenure. The Pole distributed his offense well, landing 42 significant strikes to the head, 37 to the body and 22 to the legs.

17: UFC appearances for Clark, tying him with Alexander Gustafsson for 10th most in the history of the light heavyweight division.

15: Finishes among 15 professional victories for Uzbekistan’s Bogdan Guskov, who secured his first UFC victory with a first-round knockout of Zac Pagua in a preliminary light heavyweight tilt. Guskov has earned 13 of those triumphs by way of KO or TKO.

53: Significant strikes by which Hyder Amil outlanded Fernie Garcie in a second-round technical knockout victory at featherweight. Amil also held a 109-to-31 advantage in total strikes while scoring the fight’s lone knockdown.
