By the Numbers: UFC Fight Night 232

While he might not get the attention of some of his more celebrated Ultimate Fighting Championship middleweight counterparts, Brendan Allen is getting harder and harder to ignore.

The Kill Cliff FC representative earned his sixth straight triumph, as he submitted Paul Craig with a rear-naked choke 38 seconds into the third round of their headlining clash at UFC Fight Night 232 on Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. “All In” now boasts 14 submissions among his 23 professional triumphs, and he has his sights set on some of the big names in his division.

Here is a by-the-numbers look at UFC Fight Night 232, with statistics courtesy of UFCStats.com.

5: Consecutive middleweight victories for Allen, tying him with Caio Borralho for the second-longest active winning streak in the division behind No. 1 contender Dricus Du Plessis (six). Note: A UFC Fight Night 200 victory over Sam Alvey that began Allen’s six-bout promotional winning streak was contested at light heavyweight.

4: Consecutive submission victories for Allen, tying him Charles Oliveira and Nate Diaz for the third-longest such streak in UFC history. Only Royce Gracie (six) and Demian Maia (five) have longer submission streaks.

32: Significant strikes landed by Allen. Craig, meanwhile, landed just six. Allen also secured both of his takedowns, attempted two submissions and logged 7:58 of control time.

1,813: Days since Craig’s last — and only other — submission defeat. “Bearjew” tapped to a kimura from Jimmy Crute in the third round of their clash at UFC Fight Night 142 on Dec. 1, 2018.

84: Significant strikes landed by Michael Morales in a three-round verdict against Jake Matthews in the co-main event. That’s a career high in four Octagon appearances for Morales, who primarily targeted the head (45) and legs (27) of his opponent. By comparison, Matthews landed 57 significant strikes.

4: Consecutive victories for Morales, tying him with Nicolas Dalby for the fifth-longest active winning streak in the UFC’s welterweight division.

28: Significant strikes landed by Payton Talbott in a third-round submission victory against Nick Aguirre at bantamweight. After a slow start, Talbott outlanded his foe 15 to 4 in Round 2 and 12 to 1 in Round 3. Talbott also held a 58-to-18 edge in total strikes landed.

4:50: Control time in the opening stanza for Aguirre, when he spent the majority of the period in top position. Aguirre couldn’t replicate that for an entire fight, however, as he logged just 56 seconds the rest of the way while landing two of 10 takedown attempts overall.

5-1: UFC record for Amanda Ribas at 115 pounds. The bubbly Brazilian returned to the strawweight division on Saturday night, rallying for a third-round TKO victory against Luana Pinheiro. Ribas is 2-2 while competing at flyweight in the Octagon.

39: Combined significant strike advantage for Ribas in the second and third rounds. Ribas took control down the stretch after a strong start from Pinheiro, who held a 25-to-18 advantage in significant strikes in Round 1.

1: Knockdown for Ribas, the first she has landed in 10 UFC appearances.

7: Takedowns landed in 10 attempts by Mykrybek Orolbai, who submitted Uros Medic with a neck crank 4:12 into the second round of their welterweight bout. Orolbai, who was a short-notice replacement for Jonny Parsons, has been victorious in his last seven professional outings.

4: Consecutive finishes for Joanderson Brito, who tapped out Jonathan Pearce with a ninja choke 3:54 into the second round of their featherweight showdown. That ties him with Carlos Ulberg and Roman Kopylov for the third-longest active finishing streak in the UFC behind Shavkat Rakhmonov (five) and Benoit St. Denis (five). Brito’s four straight victories are also good for the fifth-longest active winning streak in the promotion at 145 pounds.

6:15: Control time, out of 8:54 total fight time, by Pearce in defeat. Pearce also outlanded his foe 81 to 33 in total strikes, but it wasn’t enough to overcome his opponent’s finishing prowess.

.740: Significant striking accuracy for Christian Leroy Duncan in a second-round technical knockout victory against Denis Tiuliulin at middleweight. Duncan landed an efficient 65 of 87 attempts while distributing 44 significant strikes to the head, eight to the body, 13 to the legs and 16 in the clinch. Tiuliulin, meanwhile, landed 30 of 71 significant strikes — a 42% success rate.

76: Significant strikes landed by Caio Machado in a unanimous decision loss to Mick Parkin at heavyweight. By comparison, Parkin landed just 39 significant strikes, but his three takedowns and 6:10 of control time — nearly all of which occurred over the bout’s first 10 minutes — was enough to get the nod from the cageside judges. It was a far cry from Parkin’s Octagon debut, when he outlanded Jamal Pogues by a 95-to-36 count in a decision victory.

3: UFC bouts to have their original call overturned by replay review in 2023 after it was determined Trey Ogden did not earn a technical submission victory against Nikolas Motta in their lightweight encounter. Their have been four such contests in UFC history overall.

54: Significant strike deficit for Rafael Estevam, who took a unanimous verdict over Charles Johnsonin their flyweight clash. That’s the fourth largest negative differential for a fighter to win a three-round fight in UFC history. The others: Shane Burgos (-71) over Charles Jourdain at UFC on ABC 3; Priscila Cachoeira (-68) over Ji Yeon Kim at UFC Fight Night 202 and Igor Pokrajac (-62) over Fabio Maldonado at UFC on Fuel TV 3.

19: Takedowns successfully defended by Johnson. Estevam landed just three of 22 attempts while logging 9:23 of control time in victory.
