After nearly two years away, Brian Ortega returned with a renewed focus at UFC Fight Night 180.

Ortega stymied Chan Sung Jung at every turn, sweeping the scorecards by identical 50-45 counts in Saturday’s featherweight headliner at the Flash Forum in Abu Dhabi. With the victory, “T-City” appears to be in line for a title shot against reigning 145-pound champion Alexander Volkanovski down the road. Here is a by-the-numbers look at UFC Fight Night 180, with statistics courtesy of UFCStats.com.

127: Significant strikes landed by Ortega, the most of his nine-bout UFC tenure. By comparison, Jung landed 62 significant strikes. Ortega outlanded his foe 24 to 14 in Round 1, 23 to 14 in Round 2, 28 to 7 in Round 3, 17 to 8 in Round 4 and 35 to 19 in Round 5. Ortega also had two knockdowns in the bout, flooring “The Korean Zombie” in the first and second frames.

64: Significant head strikes for Ortega. Jung, meanwhile, landed 35.

41: Significant leg strikes landed by Ortega. Jung finished with 13.

3: Takedowns landed in 10 attempts by Ortega, also a UFC career best.

1: Woman in UFC history to earn victories in three different weight classes after Jessica Andrade accomplished the feat with a first-round TKO of Katlyn Chookagian at 125 pounds. The Brazilian has also earned victories at strawweight and bantamweight in the Las Vegas-based promotion.

62: Total strikes landed by Andrade. By comparison, Chookagian, who possessed a significant height and reach advantage, landed just 27.

2: Knockdowns landed by Jimmy Crute in against Modestas Bukauskas in a featured light heavyweight bout. After landing one knockdown in his first four UFC appearances, the Australian needed just 121 seconds to floor his opponent twice on Saturday night.

.590: Significant striking accuracy for James Krause, who landed 94 of 159 attempts on a bum knee in a decision victory over Claudio Silva at welterweight. Silva spent much of the bout winging shots and was far less accurate, landing 64 of 214 significant strikes for a 29 percent success rate.

1,001: Days away from UFC competition for the once-highly regarded prospect Thomas Almeida. The Brazilian returned for the first time since Jan. 20, 2018 at UFC Fight Night 180, where he suffered his third straight defeat against Jonathan Martinez

17: Professional bouts without a defeat for former KSW champion Mateusz Gamrot. In his 18th appearance, Gamrot suffered a split decision loss against Guram Kutateladze in his Octagon debut. Despite the setback, Gamrot held a 52-to-37 edge in significant strikes and landed five of 16 takedown attempts.

6: UFC victories for Gillian Robertson following a decision win over Poliana Botelho. That’s the most in the history of the women’s flyweight division.

48: Significant ground strikes, out of 57 total, landed by Robertson. Botelho landed just three significant strikes on the ground. Robertson also succeeded on three of seven takedown tries.

258: Total ground strikes landed by Jun Yong Park in a lopsided unanimous verdict over John Phillips at middleweight. That’s a UFC record for total ground strikes landed in a three-round fight. Matt Riddle held the previous record, landing 251 total ground strikes in a win over Steve Bruno at UFC Fight Night 17 in 2009.

247: Total strikes by which Park outlanded Phillips. That’s the fifth-largest total strike differential for a fight in UFC history, regardless of weight class.

13:11: Total control time for Park, who went 4-for-4 on takedown attempts.

14: Unofficial media scorecards, of the 16 tracked by MMADecisions.com, that awarded the lightweight clash between Jamie Mullarkey and Fares Ziam to Mullarkey. All three cageside judges submitted 29-28 tallies in favor of Ziam.

18: Significant strikes landed by Said Nurmagomedov in a 51-second technical knockout victory over Mark Striegl at bantamweight. Nurmagomedov landed 18 of 24 attempts for a 75 percent success rate.
