Rafael dos Anjos isn’t here to help build new contenders at welterweight.

The former lightweight champion gave Kevin Lee a rude welcome to 170 pounds in the UFC Fight Night 152 headliner, as he submitted “The Motown Phenom” with an arm-triangle choke 3:47 into the fourth round. The 34-year-old Brazilian ended a two-fight skid and improved to 4-2 since moving to welterweight two years ago.

Here is a by-the-numbers look at UFC Fight Night 152, with statistics courtesy of UFCStats.com.

9: Finishes at UFC Rochester, the most at an event held by the Las Vegas-based promotion thus far in 2019. Previously, UFC Brooklyn and UFC Fortaleza were tied for No. 1 with eight finishes.

3:47: Time of Dos Anjos’ fourth-round finish of Lee, making it the fourth-latest finish ever in a UFC welterweight fight. The latest finish in a 170-pound bout occurred at UFC 189, when Robbie Lawler stopped Rory MacDonald 60 seconds into the fifth round.

4: Takedowns landed in six attempts by dos Anjos. That’s the most of any Lee opponent in 15 UFC bouts. The previous high occurred when Michel Prazeres landed three takedowns in a decision loss to “The Motown Phenom.”

11: Takedown attempts successfully defended by dos Anjos. Lee did land six takedowns in the fight, but was only successful on 35 percent of his attempts and did not dictate the tempo of the bout with his wrestling.

60: Significant strikes landed by dos Anjos. By comparison, Lee landed 35. Dos Anjos also held a 75-to-40 edge in total strikes landed.

79: Total strikes landed by Ian Heinisch in a unanimous decision triumph over Antonio Carlos Jr. at middleweight. By comparison, Carlos Jr. landed 25. Heinisch picked up the pace over the last 10 minutes of the bout, outlanding his Brazilian foe 39 to 5 in round two and 32 to 7 in round three. Heinisch also held a 39-to-15 edge in significant strikes landed.

4: Takedowns landed in 11 attempts for Carlos Jr. Heinisch, meanwhile, landed his only takedown try of the fight.

9: Combined guard passes executed by Heinisch (five) and Carlos Jr. (four) in a scramble-happy affair.

22: Significant strikes landed by Felicia Spencer in her first-round submission win over Megan Anderson at featherweight. By comparison, Anderson landed just three. Spencer tapped Anderson with a rear-naked choke at the 3:24 mark of round one.

5: Consecutive victories for Vicente Luque following a first-round stoppage of short-notice foe Derrick Krantz in a featured welterweight bout. That is currently the sixth-longest active winning streak at 170 pounds. Reigning champ Kamaru Usman owns the longest streak with 10 straight triumphs.

9: Career finishes for Luque, tying him with Thiago Alves for third most in the history of the welterweight division. Matt Hughes and Matt Brown are tied for first with 12 apiece.

.720: Significant striking accuracy for Luque in the abbreviated contest. Luque landed 18 of 25 attempts while Krantz went six for 18 -- a 33 percent success rate.

14: Career finishes for Charles Oliveira in UFC competition, tying him with Vitor Belfort and Anderson Silva for third-most in promotion history. Only Donald Cerrone (16) has more. “Do Bronx” defeated Nik Lentz via technical knockout 2:11 into the second stanza of their lightweight clash.

5: Consecutive finishes in the Octagon for Oliveira, tying him with Luque and Gregor Gillespie for the longest active finishing streak in the UFC.

2-0: Olivieira’s official record vs. Lentz in three UFC bouts. Their first meeting was eventually changed to a no contest due to the Brazilian landing an illegal knee that allowed him to set up what was a fight-ending rear-naked choke in the second frame.

20: Significant strikes by which Oliveira outlanded Lentz on Saturday. “Do Bronx” outlanded Lentz by 27 significant strikes in their most recent meeting in May 2015, a bout Oliveira won via guillotine choke.

4: Takedowns landed in four attempts by Desmond Green in a three-round verdict over Charles Jourdain at lightweight. That represents a UFC career-best for takedowns landed in a single fight for “The Predator.” Green also held a 78-to-55 edge in significant strikes landed.

3: Consecutive bantamweight triumphs for young contender Aspen Ladd, tying her with Irene Aldana and Germaine de Randamie for the third-longest active winning streak in the division behind only Amanda Nunes (seven) and Ketlen Vieira (four). Ladd took a unanimous decision victory in a rematch against Sijara Eubanks.

6: Losses in UFC competition by knockout, technical knockout or submission for Patrick Cummins. That ties him with Mauricio Rua for the most defeats via finish in modern UFC history. Cummins fell to Ed Herman via TKO at the 3:39 mark of round one in their light heavyweight tilt.

0-3: Record for Julian Erosa against Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series alums following a third-round knockout loss to Julio Arce. Erosa, who himself earned a contact through the Series, has also lost to Grant Dawson and Devonte Smith in the Octagon. Advertisement
