By the Numbers: UFC 300

On a historic night for the Ultimate Fighting Championship, Alex Pereira ended the festivities in style.

“Poatan” retained his light heavyweight title in emphatic fashion, knocking out Jamahal Hill in the opening stanza of the UFC 300 headliner at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday night. It’s the first successful light heavyweight defense for the former middleweight champion, and Pereira is already talking about a move to heavyweight in the very near future.

On a night filled with highlights and big names, there are plenty of facts and figures to review. Here is a by-the-numbers look at UFC 300, with statistics courtesy of UFCStats.com.

5: KO/TKO victories for Pereira. “Poatan” has stopped the likes of Hill, Jiri Prochazka, Israel Adesanya, Sean Strickland and Andreas Michailidis in the Octagon.

.800: Significant striking accuracy for Pereira, who landed 24 of 30 attempts in the abbreviated affair while scoring his fourth career knockdown. Hill, meanwhile, landed 12 of 22 significant strikes, a 54% success rate.

3: Victories in UFC title bouts for Pereira, who made his promotional debut in 2021.

5: Victories in strawweight title fights for Weili Zhang, the second most in the history of the division behind only Joanna Jedrzejczyk (six). Zhang defeated Xiaonan Yan via unanimous decision in the UFC 300 co-main event.

256: Total strikes landed by Zhang. By comparison, Yan landed 73. Zhang also held a 106-to-43 edge in significant strikes landed.

6: Takedowns landed in nine attempts for Zhang, who also logged 12:44 of control time and attempted two submissions — one of which nearly ended the fight in Round 1. Yan, meanwhile, landed all three of her takedowns, secured 2:20 of control time and did not attempt a submission.

4:59: Time of Max Holloway’s fifth-round knockout of Justin Gaethje in their BMF title bout. That ties Holloway with Demetrious Johnson (vs. Kyoji Horiguchi at UFC 186) and Yair Rodriguez (vs. Chan Sung Jung at UFC Fight Night 139) for the latest fifth-round finish in UFC history.

22: Career victories for Holloway, tying him with Demian Maia, Charles Oliveira, Dustin Poirier and Neil Magny for fourth-most in promotion history.

11: KO/TKO victories for Holloway, tying him with Anderson Silva, Dustin Poirier, Anthony Johnson and Thiago Santos for third most in UFC history behind Derrick Lewis (14) and Matt Brown (13).

181: Significant strikes landed by Holloway. By comparison, Gaethje landed 103. Holloway outlanded his opponent 25 to 12 in Round 1, 30 to 18 in Round 2, 29 to 20 in Round 3 and 62 to 18 in Round 5. Both fighters landed 35 significant strikes in Round 4.

4: Consecutive triumphs for Arman Tsarukyan, tying him with Mike Davis for the fourth-longest active winning streak in the UFC’s lightweight division. Tsarukyan outdueled Charles Oliveira to earn a split-decision victory in a title eliminator bout on Saturday night.

29: Finishes among 30 professional victories for Jiri Prochazka, who defeated the returning Aleksandar Rakic via second-round technical knockout in a preliminary light heavyweight contest. The Czech Republic native has earned 26 of those triumphs by way of KO or TKO.

8: Takedowns landed in 13 attempts by Aljamain Sterling in a three-round verdict over Calvin Kattar in his featherweight debut. Sterling’s previous career best of five takedowns occurred in a victory over T.J. Dillashaw at UFC 280. Sterling also logged 10:43 of control time and outlanded his foe by an 89-to-19 count in total strikes.

49: Significant strikes by which Kayla Harrison outlanded Holly Holm in their preliminary bantamweight bout. Harrison notably racked up a 42-to-1 advantage in significant ground strikes en route to a rear-naked choke triumph at the 1:47 mark of Round 2. Holm’s two significant strikes landed are the fewest of her 16-bout UFC tenure.

17: Victories for Jessica Andrade, the most for any woman in UFC history. The former strawweight queen defeated Marina Rodriguez via split decision in a preliminary bout.

40: Significant leg strikes, out of 89 total, landed by Andrade. By comparison, Rodriguez landed three significant leg strikes. Rodriguez did hold a 70-to-35 edge in significant head strikes landed.
