UFC Championship experience
Cormier has fought for a UFC title a total of eight times. At UFC 182, he challenged Jon Jones for the light heavyweight championship and lost by unanimous decision. When Jones was stripped of the crown, Cormier contended for it against Anthony Johnson. Cormier won and successfully defended the belt against Alexander Gustafsson, Johnson in a rematch and Volkan Oezdemir. He also rematched Jones and lost, but the decision was overturned to a no contest following a failed drug test for the latter.After beating Oezdemir, Cormier challenged Miocic for the heavyweight strap, winning by first-round knockout. He made a successful defense against Derrick Lewis before deciding to relinquish the light heavyweight belt to focus on defending the heavyweight championship.
Miocic, on the other hand, has appeared in a UFC championship bout five times. He won the heavyweight title via a first-round knockout of Fabricio Werdum at UFC 198. He successfully defended it against Alistair Overeem, Junior dos Santos and Francis Ngannou before losing it to Cormier at UFC 226.

Both Cormier and Miocic have power in their hands, but the latter is the more devastating one by far. Fourteen out of Miocic’s 18 wins have come via KO or TKO. His victims inside the Octagon are dos Santos, Overeem, Werdum, Andrei Arlovski, Mark Hunt, Fabio Maldonado, Shane del Rosario and Philip De Fries.As for Cormier, 10 out of his 22 career victories have come via KO or TKO. Apart from Miocic, his most notable victims include Oezdemir and Antonio Silva.
