By the Numbers: Benson Henderson vs. Myles Jury

On a mission to capture his third world title in three different promotions, Benson Henderson made sure to win his last three fights. Blocking his path now is Myles Jury, whom he is set to welcome to the Bellator MMA cage on Sept. 27. Their thrilling showdown is part of Bellator 227, which will take place at the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland. Learn how they match up through the numbers below.

Active winning streak

After suffering his second pair of back-to-back losses in his career, and his first pair as a Bellator fighter, Henderson has piled up three consecutive victories. He submitted Roger Huerta and decisioned longtime Bellator mainstays Saad Awad and Adam Piccolotti.

Jury hasn’t been as consistent lately, having dropped his last two fights, both in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He was knocked out by Chad Mendes before bowing out of the promotion with a decision loss to Andre Fili.

Longest winning streak

Jury may currently be on a two-fight skid, but the Power MMA representative did start his career with a 15-fight winning streak. That shows that he is capable of putting together a string of victories, and he could only be a win away from starting a new one. That successful 15-fight run included six UFC victories over the likes of Diego Sanchez, Takanori Gomi, Mike Ricci, Chris Saunders, Michael Johnson and Ramsey Nijem.

Henderson’s longest streak, though five shy of Jury’s 15, was ultimately more fruitful, as it included him capturing the interim World Extreme Cagefighting lightweight championship (versus Donald Cerrone), unifying the belts (versus Jamie Varner), and successfully defending the undisputed title once (versus Cerrone).

Bellator appearances

After capturing a split decision over Jorge Masvidal in the main event of UFC Fight Night 79, Henderson moved to Bellator and has never looked back. In his promotional debut, “Smooth” lost to Andrey Koreshkov with the Bellator welterweight championship on the line. He then returned to lightweight and beat Patricio Freire before losing to Michael Chandler and Patricky Freire. With his next three fights all going his way, Henderson has improved to a 4-3 mark in Bellator. As mentioned earlier, Jury will be making his Bellator debut.

Wins by stoppage

Jury boasts a 77 percent finishing rate, having stopped 10 opponents by KO or TKO and three by submission. The most notable casualty on his resume is Gomi, whom he knocked out at UFC Fight Night 52. Speaking of notables, Henderson has a few on his list of stoppage victims, including Roger Huerta, Patricio Freire, Donald Cerrone, Jamie Varner and Rustam Khabilov. In all, he owns five triumphs by KO or TKO and nine by submission, making for a 52 percent finishing rate.

Losses by stoppage

Henderson has lost eight times in his 35-fight career, and three of those were by stoppage. He was submitted by Anthony Pettis and Rocky Johnson and knocked out by Rafael dos Anjos. As for Jury, two out of four losses were finishes. He was knocked out by Chad Mendes and tapped out by Charles Oliveira.
