A little more than three years after his knuckles rapped on the door, the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s featherweight division finds itself looking up at Alexander Volkanovski.

The 5-foot-6 Australian dynamo has added to what was already a lengthy winning streak by posting victories in each of his first eight appearances inside the Octagon. What started with Volkanovski’s second-round technical knockout of Yusuke Kasuya in 2016 culminated with a five-round unanimous decision over Max Holloway at UFC 245 on Dec. 14—a result that brought with it the undisputed featherweight championship. He now carries the bull’s eye on his back.

As Volkanovski awaits his rematch with Holloway, tentatively scheduled for UFC 251 on June 6, here are some of the numbers that have accompanied his rise to power at 145 pounds:

6: Organizations in which Volkanovski has captured championships. They are the UFC, the Australian Fighting Championship, Cage Conquest, Pacific Xtreme Combat, Roshambo MMA and Wollongong Wars.

11: Wins on his ledger by knockout or technical knockout. They account for more than half of Volkanovski’s career total.

18: Consecutive victories since Volkanovski suffered his only career setback—a third-round technical knockout loss to Corey Nelson on May 10, 2013.

3: Wins by submission on his resume. Volkanovski dismissed Greg Atzori with a guillotine choke at Roshambo MMA 2 on Feb. 1, 2014, Jai Bradney with a rear-naked choke at Roshambo MMA 3 on July 26, 2014 and Yusuke Yachi with a triangle choke at PXC 50 on Dec. 4, 2015.

157: Significant strikes landed against Holloway in the UFC 245 headliner. It was a career-high for Volkanovski and represents the second-highest tally ever mounted against Holloway. Dustin Poirier tagged the Hawaiian with 178 significant strikes in their UFC 236 rematch.

6,752: Miles between Auckland, New Zealand, where Volkanovski trains at City Kickboxing, and Las Vegas, where he laid claim to the UFC featherweight crown against Holloway.

7: Decision victories to his credit. Volkanovski has never lost a fight that went to the judges, his seven wins under those parameters coming against Holloway, Jose Aldo, Darren Elkins, Shane Young, Mizuto Hirota, Kyle Reyes and Gerhard Voigt.

20: Rounds completed in the UFC. Volkanovski has gone the distance five times in his eight UFC appearances and scored second-round stoppages in the other three.

1: Post-fight performance bonus banked since he joined the UFC roster three-plus years ago. Volkanovski was awarded a $50,000 “Fight of the Night” bonus after he disposed of Chad Mendes with second-round punches at UFC 232.

31: Years of age. Volkanovski was born on Sept. 29, 1988 in Shellharbour, New South Wales, Australia.
