By The Numbers: UFC on ESPN 52 Pre-Fight Edition


Premium lightweights will take center stage for the Ultimate Fighting Championship when Beneil Dariush battles Arman Tsarukyan in the UFC on ESPN 52 main event this Saturday at the Moody Center in Austin, Texas. Meanwhile, Jailin Turner tackles Bobby Green in the three-round co-headliner at 155 pounds, as the UFC returns to The Lone Star State’s capital city for the first time in more than a year.

As UFC on ESPN 52 “Dariush vs. Tsarukyan” approaches, a look at some of the numbers the fighters on the bill bring to the table:

8: Dariush wins by submission, accounting for 36% of his career total (22). His methods of choice: five rear-naked chokes, two armbars and one arm-triangle choke.

27: Years of age for Tsarukyan. The youngest fighter on the card, he was born on Oct. 11, 1996 in Akhalkalaki, Georgia.

10: Pro mixed martial arts organizations for which Turner has suited up. In addition to his 6-4 mark in the UFC, he has gone 2-0 in Bellator MMA, 1-0 in Dana White’s Contender Series, 1-0 in King of the Cage, 1-0 in Tachi Palace Fights, 1-0 in the World Series of Fighting, 1-0 in BAMMA USA, 0-1 in California Xtreme Fighting, 0-1 in Smash Global and 0-1 in the California Fight League.

11: Green victories by knockout or technical knockout, accounting for 35% of his career total (31). His list of UFC victims: Grant Dawson, Al Iaquinta and James Krause.

1,250: Total strikes landed by Rob Font as a UFC bantamweight, placing him sixth on the promotion’s all-time list at 135 pounds. Only Aljamain Sterling (1,670), Merab Dvalishvili (1,569), T.J. Dillashaw (1,522), Petr Yan (1,309) and Pedro Munhoz (1,305) have connected with more. Font toes the line against Deiveson Figueiredo in a three-round bantamweight showcase.

692: Days spent by Figueiredo as UFC flyweight champion. His time at the top was spread across two reigns, from July 19, 2020 to June 12, 2021 and Jan. 22, 2022 to Jan. 21, 2023.

14: Men other than Sean Brady who have held the Cage Fury Fighting Championships welterweight title. Tamdan McCrory, Chip Moraza-Pollard, Greg Soto, George Sullivan, Jonavin Webb, Lyman Good, Emmanuel Walo, Jeremiah Wells, Bassil Hafez, Evan Cutts, Yohan Lainesse, Eric Alequin, Raheam Forest and Charlie Radtke complete the list. Brady confronts Kelvin Gastelum in a three-round welterweight attraction.

70: Rounds completed by Gastelum as a professional mixed martial artist. He has gone the distance on 13 different occasions and carries a 7-6 record in those bouts.

41: Years of age for onetime Strikeforce champion Clay Guida. The oldest fighter on the card, he was born in Round Lake, Illinois, on Dec. 8, 1981. Guida meets Joaquim Silva in a three-round lightweight feature.

95: Significant strikes landed by Silva in a third-round knockout of Jared Gordon at UFC on Fox 31 in December 2018. It set a personal high-water mark for the American Top Team rep that stands to this day.

31: Seconds needed for Punahele Soriano to punch out Rafael Celestino under the Titan Fighting Championship banner on April 6, 2018. More than five years later, it remains his fastest finish to date. Soriano squares off with Dustin Stoltzfus in a three-round middleweight appetizer.

4: Countries in which Stoltzfus has plied his MMA trade. He has gone 11-1 in Germany, 2-3 in the United States, 1-0 in Switzerland and 0-1 in France.

.746: Cumulative winning percentage between the 26 fighters slated to compete at the event. They boast a combined record of 419-141-5. Guida has recorded the most victories (38) and been saddled with the most losses (23) of anyone on the card.
