Miguel Baeza shows all the signs of being an ascendant talent in the Ultimate Fighting Championship welterweight division.

“Caramel Thunder” will take the next step in his development when he toes the line against Santiago Ponzinibbio in a UFC Fight Night 189 welterweight showcase on Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Baeza enters the cage with a perfect 10-0 record. He last competed at UFC on ESPN 18, where he submitted Takashi Sato with an arm-triangle choke in the second round of their Nov. 28 pairing. Ponzinibbio, meanwhile, has put together a run of seven wins in eight outings. He last appeared at UFC on ABC 1 in January, when he was on the receiving end of a first-round knockout from Jingliang Li.

As Baeza and Ponzinibbio pore over their remaining pre-fight details, a look at some of the numbers they have accompanied to this point:

28: Years of age for Baeza, who was born in Davie, Florida, on Aug. 23, 1992—a day before Hurricane Andrew made landfall in nearby Homestead. The historic Category 5 storm caused more than $27 billion in damage across The Bahamas, Florida, Louisiana and other parts of the United States.

7: Baeza victories by knockout or technical knockout, accounting for 70% of his career total (10). He owns one other victory by submission and two more by decision.

81: Seconds needed by Baeza to put away John McDonald with punches in his pro debut at Rings of Dreams 17 on Aug. 22, 2015. It remains the fastest finish of his 10-fight career.

56: Significant strikes by which Baeza has outlanded his first three opponents in the UFC: Sato, Matt Brown and Hector Aldana. The MMA Masters export has connected with 112 such strikes while absorbing only 56 in return.

34: Years of age for Ponzinibbio, who was born on Sept. 28, 1986 in La Plata, Argentina, nearly 4,500 miles away from where he now trains at American Top Team.

15: Ponzinibbio wins by knockout or technical knockout, accounting for 56% of his career total (27). His victims include Neil Magny, Gunnar Nelson and Court McGee. Ponzinibbio owns six other wins by submission and six more by decision.

1.16: Knockdowns landed by Ponzinibbio per 15 minutes of UFC competition, tying him with Brad Blackburn for third on the promotion’s all-time list at 170 pounds. Only Abdul Razak Alhassan (2.24) and Anthony Johnson (1.81) rank higher in the category.

.761: Cumulative winning percentage between the four men—Li, Lorenz Larkin, Ryan LaFlare and Leonardo Mafra Texeira—who have defeated Ponzinibbio. They own a combined record of 70-22.

3: Post-fight bonuses banked by Ponzinibbio across his 12 appearances in the UFC. He has been awarded “Fight of the Night” once and “Performance of the Night” twice, resulting in $150,000 of additional income.
