“The Monkey God” will enter 2023 as the undisputed One Championship strawweight titleholder after he dethroned Joshua Pacio by unanimous decision in their five-round ONE 164 headliner on Dec. 3. Brooks finds himself on a six-fight winning streak, having emerged as one of the premier lighter-weight competitors operating outside the auspices of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He has compiled a perfect 4-0 record since joining the ONE roster in 2021.

As Brooks awaits word on his next assignment from One Championship matchmakers, a look at some of the numbers that have accompanied him to this point:

29: Years of age for Brooks, who was born Warsaw, Indiana, on May 2, 1993. “Indecent Proposal,” “Sidekicks,” “Indian Summer,” “Benny & Joon” and “The Sandlot” were the Top 5 movies at the domestic box office at the time.

8: Brooks wins by submission, accounting for 40% of his career total (20). His methods of choice include five rear-naked chokes and two arm-triangle chokes. Brooks holds two other wins by knockout or technical knockout (10%) and 10 more by decision (50%).

40: Rounds completed by Brooks as a professional mixed martial artist. He has reached the judges on 11 different occasions and carries a 10-1 record in those assignments.

21: Seconds needed for Brooks to submit Chris Catala by undisclosed means at an Xplode Fight Series event on Aug. 9, 2014. More than eight years later, it remains his fastest finish to date.

16: Takedowns completed by Brooks during a four-fight run in the UFC that saw him break even inside the Octagon at 2-2, his victories over Eric Shelton and Robert Sanchez offset by losses to Deiveson Figueiredo and Jose Torres.

1,672: Days since Brooks last experienced a defeat. He has rebounded from his June 1, 2018 knockout loss to Torres at UFC Fight Night 131 by going 7-0 with one no contest in eight subsequent appearances.

6: Countries in which Brooks has plied his mixed martial artist trade. He has gone 12-1 in the United States, 3-0 with one no contest in Japan, 3-0 in Singapore, 1-0 in Russia, 1-0 in the Philippines and 0-1 in Brazil.

2: Organizations in which Brooks has struck gold. In addition to his current reign as ONE strawweight champion, he captured the House of Fame flyweight crown with a unanimous decision over Abdiel Velazquez on Oct. 29, 2015.

5: Men other than Brooks who have held the undisputed ONE strawweight title. They are Pacio (twice), Yoshitaka Naito (twice), Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke, Alex Silva and Yosuke Saruta.

32: Combined victories between the two men—Figueiredo and Torres—who have beaten Brooks. They sport a cumulative .892 winning percentage at 32-3-2.
