History often repeats itself—a fate Joshua Silveira hopes to avoid.

The American Top Team standout will face Impa Kasanganay for the second time in less than nine months when their Professional Fighters League light heavyweight semifinal headlines PFL 8 on Aug. 16 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida. Silveira lost a five-round unanimous decision to “Tshilobo” in the 2024 final in December, missing out on a league championship and a seven-figure payday in the process. Now, they meet again. A two-division Legacy Fighting Alliance titleholder, Silveira went 1-1 during the 2024 regular season to nail down the No. 4 seed in the playoffs. Meanwhile, the top-seeded Kasanganay heads into the postseason on the strength of back-to-back technical knockouts of Alex Polizzi and Jakob Nedoh. The Kill Cliff Fight Club rep has posted eight wins in 10 appearances since parting ways with the Ultimate Fighting Championship in 2021.
