The venerable Brazilian will defend the undisputed Ultimate Fighting Championship light heavyweight title for the first time when he faces Jiri Prochazka in the UFC 275 headliner on Saturday at Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore. Teixeira has rattled off six straight wins, five of them finishes. He last appeared at UFC 267, where he dethroned Jan Blachowicz with a rear-naked choke in the second round of their Oct. 30 encounter. Prochazka, meanwhile, enters the Octagon on the strength of a 12-fight winning streak that covers more than six years. He has not competed since May 1, 2021, when he wrecked Dominick Reyes with a spinning back elbow in the second round of their UFC on ESPN 23 clash.
As Teixeira and Prochazka inch ever closer to their date with
destiny, a look at some of the numbers that have accompanied them
to this point:
42: Years of age for Teixeira, who was born on Oct. 28, 1979 in Sobralia, Brazil.
10: Teixeira wins by submission, accounting for 30% of his career total (33). His methods of choice: six rear-naked chokes, two guillotine chokes and two arm-triangle chokes. Teixeira holds 18 other wins by knockout or technical knockout and five more by decision.
1,342: Total strikes landed by Teixeira as a UFC light heavyweight, placing him second on the promotion’s all-time list at 205 pounds. Only Jon Jones (1,835) has been credited with more.
18: Calendar years in which Teixeira has fought at least once. He went 0-1 in 2002, 2-0 in 2004, 0-1 in 2005, 3-0 in 2006, 2-0 in 2008, 1-0 in 2009, 4-0 in 2010, 5-0 in 2011, 2-0 in 2012, 3-0 in 2013, 0-2 in 2014, 2-0 in 2015, 1-1 in 2016, 2-1 in 2017, 0-1 in 2018, 3-0 in 2019, 2-0 in 2020 and 1-0 in 2021.

29: Years of age for Prochazka, who was born in Znojmo, Czech Republic, on Oct. 14, 1992.
25: Prochazka victories by knockout or technical knockout, accounting for 89% of his career total (28). In addition to the aforementioned Reyes, his list of victims includes Volkan Oezdemir, C.B. Dollaway, Muhammed Lawal, Bruno Henrique Cappelozza and Vadim Nemkov. Prochazka owns two more wins by submission and another by decision.

He punched out Stanislav Futera in 53 seconds at Gladiator Championship Fighting 10 on April 7, 2012, brought down Radovan Estocin with a flying knee and follow-up punches in 26 seconds at GCF 23 on May 10, 2013 and zapped Tomas Penz with a flying knee and follow-up punches in 48 seconds at GCF 28 on June 6, 2014.
7: Countries in which Prochazka has competed as a mixed martial artist. He has gone 13-0 in his native Czech Republic, 11-1 in Japan, 1-1-1 in Russia, 1-0 in the United States, 1-0 in the United Arab Emirates, 1-0 in Germany and 0-1 in Serbia.
