By The Numbers: Erin Blanchfield vs. Rose Namajunas

Most view Erin Blanchfield as a title contender in waiting, a status that brings its own perils and potential pitfalls to bear within the Ultimate Fighting Championship women’s flyweight division.

The onetime Eddie Bravo Invitational champion will attempt to take another key step forward in her development when she faces Rose Namajunas in the UFC Fight Night 246 co-main event on Saturday at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta. Blanchfield has rattled off nine wins over her past 10 outings. However, she finds herself in bounce-back mode after her five-round unanimous decision loss to Manon Fiorot at UFC on ESPN 54 in March. Namajunas, meanwhile, remains one of the UFC’s most reputable female stars. The two-time women’s strawweight titleholder last suited up at UFC on ESPN 59, where she took a unanimous verdict from Tracy Cortez in their five-round encounter on July 13.

As Blanchfield and Namajunas make final preparations for their high-stakes showdown at 125 pounds, a look at some of the numbers that have accompanied them to this point:

25: Years of age for Blanchfield, who was born on May 4, 1999 in Elmwood Park, New Jersey—some 2,500 miles from Ultimate Fighting Championship headquarters in Las Vegas.

4: Blanchfield victories by submission, accounting for 33% of her career total (12). Her methods of choice: one keylock, one guillotine choke, one kimura and one rear-naked choke. Blanchfield holds two other victories by knockout or technical knockout (17%) and six more by decision (50%).

200: Seconds needed for Blanchfield to dispatch Gabriella Gulfin with a keylock under the Cage Fury Fighting Championships banner on June 14, 2019. More than five years later, it remains her fastest finish to date.

7: Takedowns completed by Blanchfield in a three-round unanimous decision over Miranda Maverick at UFC 269 in December 2021. It established a personal high-water mark for the Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt that stands to this day.

.885: Cumulative winning percentage between the two women—Fiorot and Cortez—who have beaten Blanchfield. They boast a combined record of 23-3.

32: Years of age for Namajunas, who was born in Milwaukee on June 29, 1992. “Batman Returns,” “Unlawful Entry,” “Sister Act,” “House Sitter” and “Patriot Games” were the Top 5 movies at the domestic box office at the time.

5: Namajunas wins by submission, accounting for 39% of her career total (13). Her methods of choice: four rear-naked chokes and one flying armbar. Namajunas owns two other wins by knockout or technical knockout (15%) and six more by decision (46%).

300,000: Dollars in post-fight bonuses banked by Namajunas across her 16 assignments in the UFC. She has been awarded “Performance of the Night” and “Fight of the Night” three times each.

59: Rounds completed by Namajunas as a professional mixed martial artist. She has gone the distance on 10 different occasions and carries a 6-4 record in those bouts.

87: Combined victories between the five women—Fiorot, Carla Esparza (twice), Jessica Andrade, Karolina Kowalkiewicz and Tecia Pennington—who have defeated Namajunas. They sport a cumulative .702 winning percentage at 87-37.
