By The Numbers: Charles Jourdain vs. Nathaniel Wood

The faint of heart have no place in the Ultimate Fighting Championship featherweight division—a reality with which Charles Jourdain and Nathaniel Wood continue to acquaint themselves.

With the promotion’s long-awaited debut in France as their backdrop, the under-30 hopefuls will face off as part of the UFC Fight Night 209 main draw this Saturday at Accor Arena in Paris. Jourdain has won three of his past five bouts. However, he finds himself on the rebound following a majority decision defeat to Shane Burgos at UFC on ABC 3 in July. Jourdain has never suffered back-to-back losses. Wood, meanwhile, enters the Octagon on the strength of 10 victories in 12 outings. The former Cage Warriors Fighting Championship titleholder last competed at UFC Fight Night 208, where he made his featherweight debut and took a unanimous verdict from Charles Rosa in their July 23 pairing.

8: Jourdain victories by knockout or technical knockout, accounting for 61% of his career total (13). His list of UFC victims: Marcelo Rojo and Doo Ho Choi. Jourdain owns four other victories by submission (31%) and one more by decision (8%), having outpointed Andre Ewell to a unanimous verdict at UFC Fight Night 199 a little less than a year ago.

.744: Cumulative winning percentage between the five opponents—Burgos, Julian Erosa, Andre Fili, Desmond Green and T.J. Laramie—who have beaten Jourdain. They boast a combined record of 99-34.

29: Years of age for Wood, who was born on Aug. 5, 1993 in Carshalton, England.

30: Rounds completed by Wood as a professional mixed martial artist. He has gone the distance on five different occasions and carries a 4-1 record in those bouts.

3: Sub-minute finishes to Wood’s credit. He put away Abdullah Saleh with punches in 22 seconds at Ultimate Challenge MMA 38 on Feb. 1, 2014, buried Oleksandr Bilobrovaka with punches in 34 seconds at UCMMA 39 on May 3, 2014 and punched out Luca Iovine in 50 seconds at Cage Warriors 92 on March 24, 2018.
