By The Numbers: Brandon Royval vs. Tatsuro Taira

Brandon Royval may be all that stands between Tatsuro Taira and a shot at Ultimate Fighting Championship gold at 125 pounds.

The Top 5-ranked flyweights will lock horns when they headline UFC Fight Night 244 this Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Royval enters the cage with victories in four of his past five outings. The Factory X standout last competed at UFC Fight Night 237, where he evened his head-to-head series against Brandon Moreno with a five-round split decision over the former champion in their Feb. 24 rematch. Taira, meanwhile, has won all 16 of his fights as a pro. The onetime Shooto titleholder last saw action on June 15, when he was awarded an injury-induced technical knockout over Alex Perez in the second round of their UFC on ESPN 58 encounter.
