Strawweight rivals will renew acquaintances when Alex Silva rematches Rene Catalan in a One Championship “NextGen 3” featured attraction on Nov. 26 at Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore. A former Brazilian jiu-jitsu world champion and longtime black belt, Silva submitted Catalan with an armbar in their first encounter eight-plus years ago.
As Silva and Catalan move closer to their rematch, a look at some of the numbers that have accompanied them to this point:

8: Silva victories by submission, accounting for 80% of his career total (10). His methods of choice: five armbars, one rear-naked choke, one arm-triangle choke and one kneebar. Silva owns two other victories by decision.

He laid claim to the 125-pound crown with a five-round unanimous decision over Yoshitaka Naito at One Championship “Warriors of the World” on Dec. 9, 2017 and surrendered it to Naito in their One Championship “Grit and Glory” rematch, as he wound up on the wrong side of a split verdict on May 12, 2018.
82: Combined wins between the five men—Naito (twice), Koha Minowa, Joshua Pacio, Yosuke Saruta and Geje Eustaquio—who have beaten Silva. They sport a cumulative record of 82-27-3 (.732).
