In a fight many thought should have never happened, Jones wrecked Sonnen with vicious elbows and punches in the first round to retain the UFC light heavyweight championship at the Prudential Center.

Along the way, Jones’ big toe took some punishment, which was revealed during his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan, the appendage hanging off at a nasty right angle, bone exposed. The injury did not turn out to be too debilitating, but outside of the damage “Bones” sustained against Alexander Gustafsson, the de-gloved toe remains one of the most significant obstacles the 205-pound champion has overcome inside the cage.
