3. Donald Cerrone (18-4)


“Cowboy” embodies the warrior spirit.

Any anybody-anywhere-anytime kind of fighter, Cerrone has captured the hearts and minds of fans the world over with his genuine thirst for combat. The 33-year-old Jackson-Wink MMA mainstay built his profile as a lightweight, where wins over Charles Oliveira, Dennis Siver, Jeremy Stephens, Edson Barboza, Jim Miller, Benson Henderson and Eddie Alvarez made him a household name. Cerrone was awarded a title shot against then-lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos in the UFC on Fox 17 main event but succumbed to a body kick and follow-up punches from the Kings MMA standout in just 66 seconds.

Cerrone, a 13-time post-fight performance bonus winner, has since dusted himself off and moved to the welterweight division. There, three straight finishes against Alex Oliveria, Patrick Cote and Rick Story have made him a serious player at 170 pounds. A bout with Robbie Lawler at UFC 205 in Madison Square Garden recently fell through when the former welterweight champion withdrew with an injury.
