Pathological aggression has defined Lauzon’s tenure in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. While he introduced himself to UFC fans with a 48-second knockout of former lightweight champion Jens Pulver in 2006 and subsequent appearance on Season 5 of “The Ultimate Fighter,” the Brockton, Massachusetts, native has more often than not leaned on his grappling skills inside the Octagon. Lauzon has accumulated 28 submission attempts in his 23 appearances under the UFC flag, eliciting tapouts from Jeremy Stephens, Melvin Guillard and Jamie Varner, among others. His six “Submission of the Night” bonuses still rank first on the UFC’s all-time list, even though he has not executed a single submission in nearly five years.
