3. Mike Thomas Brown vs Masakazu Imanari
Deep 22 Impact
Dec. 2, 2005 | Tokyo

Over the span of a 14-year professional fighting career, Imanari has accrued 18 of 28 wins by way of submission. Better known as the “Ashikan Judan,” or “Master of Leglocks” in Japan, Imanari’s victory over Brown in 2005 showed just how dangerous his leg attacks could be.

In the ring at Korakuen Hall, Imanari trapped Brown’s lower leg and then began to apply pressure laterally. Had the former World Extreme Cagefighting champion submitted earlier, his knee would not have popped out. However, as was showcased throughout his career, getting Brown to tap was no easy feat; he was only submitted on three other occasions in 35 fights. This time, his stubbornness proved costly.
