After years of back-and-forth posturing, Mayweather and eight-division champion Manny Pacquiao finally found themselves in the ring with one another on May 2, 2015 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. It was more spectacle than sport. Pay-per-view records were shattered, as Mayweather-Pacquiao resulted in 4.6 million buys, according to reports. The fight itself did not come close to fulfilling expectations, with Mayweather cruising to a unanimous decision -- 118-110, 116-112 and 116-112 -- over the Filipino superstar. He was difficult for Pacquiao to find at times, downright impossible at others. “Pac-Man” connected on just 81 of the 429 punches he threw, per CompuBox stats. It was later revealed the Pacquiao fought through a torn rotator cuff, an injury that required corrective surgery in the months that followed. His revelation further dampened the discussion around a larger-than-life prizefight that happened five years too late.
