UFC 136 “Edgar vs. Maynard 3”
Oct. 8, 2011 | Houston
Edgar was well-established as one of the most durable fighters MMA, and Maynard perhaps knew it better than anyone else.
In the first round of their third fight, Maynard had “The Answer” reeling with punches but once again never found the means through which to put him away for good. Edgar withstood a ridiculous amount of punishment, extended the fight with his toughness and eventually turned the tide in his favor. Though he had suffered visible damage to his face and blood was dripping from his nose, Edgar had perplexed Maynard with his darting in-and-out movement.
Behind on the scorecards, Edgar seized control of the match in the fourth round. He backed up Maynard with punches, planted a right hand on his chin and floored him with an uppercut. “The Bully” jumped to his feet and stumbled into the cage, where Edgar leveled him with a looping right hook and finished the turtled Maynard with follow-up punches on the ground.
