Still just 31 years old, Stephens has become one of the UFC’s most dependable assets, his 26 appearances inside the Octagon tying him for seventh on the organization’s all-time list. The Alliance MMA representative last competed at UFC 215 on Sept. 9, when he savaged former Strikeforce champion Gilbert Melendez’s leg with kicks on his way to a lopsided unanimous decision. Wins over Renan Barao, Rafael dos Anjos, Dennis Bermudez and Darren Elkins serve to strengthen the Stephens resume. Choi finds his way back to the cage for the first time since his epic encounter with Cub Swanson at UFC 206 more than a year ago. The unanimous decision loss snapped a 12-fight winning streak for the South Korean prospect.
