Freire moved into the Season 4 lightweight tournament final in violent and dramatic fashion, as he knocked out Imada with a flying knee and follow-up left hook in the first round of their pairing at the Mohegan Sun Arena. A two-time Bellator tournament finalist, Imada reached the end of his rope 2:53 into Round 1.
“Pitbull” went to work on the Californian’s lower extremities from the start, attacking the inside and outside of Imada’s legs with punishing kicks. Freire timed and landed his knee perfectly, as Imada, barely conscious in a standing position, tiptoed backward on unsteady legs. The Brazilian then lit up the stricken submission specialist with two more power punches and put him down with a clean left hook to the head.
