A textbook left hook from the bearded Hendricks laid waste to Fitch, a former welterweight title contender, 12 seconds into their showdown at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Fitch -- who had not been finished in more than nine years and had lost only once in his previous 23 appearances -- threw a straight right hand, backed away and ate the punch that ended his night. The left hook found its mark, and Fitch collapsed. Hendricks moved in and fired off one more left hand for good measure, as referee Steve Mazzagatti stepped in to prevent the American Kickboxing Academy standout from absorbing further punishment. With that, fans in Sin City witnessed the birth of another contender at 170 pounds.
