Predicting Every UFC Champion in 2019

Incumbent champion: Valentina Shevchenko

Prediction: Shevchenko fights Jessica Eye in the first half of 2019 and retains her title in dominant fashion. She does the same against Sijara Eubanks and ends the year as champion.

Explanation: This is by far the easiest division to assess, because Shevchenko seems plains apart from her counterparts at 125 pounds. “Bullet” cruised to a decision victory over former strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk to win the title in what most people predicted would be her toughest fight in the weight class, and it’s hard to imagine her being knocked off the throne in the short-term.

Eye and Sijara Eubanks are the most likely contenders to get a shot at Shevchenko’s title, and will both be substantial underdogs. My prediction is Shevchenko fights and stops both of them in 2019 and solidifies herself as one of the top female combat sports athletes on the planet.
