"It's making me antsy. I need to focus on something. I need to fight. I'm kind of jobless at the moment. Everything keeps shutting down on me." -- Gina Carano, whose deals with NBC’s American Gladiators and EliteXC have pretty much dissolved, to HDNet's Ron Kruck during the broadcast of Strikeforce "Destruction."

"I wanted her to come after me. That threw me off a little bit." -- Kim Couture in post-fight press conference on her Strikeforce opponent literally turning her back on her during their fight.

"I make some bad decisions because I have too much fun. I have never used my Jiu-Jitsu in the UFC," he said. "All of my fights in the UFC have been slugfests. People always tell me after my fights that they know I can be one of the top contenders in my weight class. They ask me why I don't use my Jiu-Jitsu. I have so much fun standing up and I completely think I'm winning all the time… I'm going to do a lot of things differently in Strikeforce. I will always bring the same intensity and I'm always going to fight 110 percent. I just want to be able to use everything that I know." -- Jorge Gurgel in Strikeforce press release about signing with the promotion after being cut by the UFC.

"I don't know whether it's true or not. I just hope he retires after we fight." -- UFC middleweight contender Yushin Okami to Sherdog.com on Anderson Silva's pending retirement.

"I think Yushin and I are both in the top five of the UFC's middleweight division. We have both only lost once and it was via decision, so I believe the winner should definitely be considered for a shot at the title. Either way I'm going to let Anderson know he has me waiting for him… I will call Anderson out the moment my arm is raised. Joe Rogan won't even be able to ask me to comment on the replay." -- Dean Lister, who faces Yushin Okami on Dec. 27, to MMAWeekly.com.

"I don't completely understand the terms of this contract, but in a non-specific sense you could look at it two ways -- you could either think of it as them making money off your likeness, and the fact that they can continue to do so as long as they like, or you could think of it as an awesome opportunity for publicity and exposure. This game is going to be [expletive] insane, and it's going to be seen and played with by millions and millions of people, millions of times. For a popular fighter it's a [expletive] awesome tool for exposure that has a level of impact that you really wouldn't be able to recreate on your own. Obviously the more exposure you have, the more opportunities you're going to have to cash in on that with sponsorships." -- Joe Rogan on MMA.tv’s The Underground Forum commenting on the Jon Fitch situation last week, where Fitch was temporarily cut from the UFC for his initial refusal to be featured in a UFC video game.

"A lot of people think mixed martial arts is just barbaric bareknuckle fighting, when in reality it takes skill, training and a great amount of strategy to do well in the sport. This clip from last week's Ultimate Fighter is not an example of that. This is one drunk dude demanding another, much bigger drunk dude hit him in the face." -- Host Joel McHale on the Nov. 21 episode of "The Soup" on the E channel before airing a clip of Tom Lawlor punching out Dave Kaplan on TUF 8.

“We’ve seen it in the past, the country or civilization with the most advanced weapons win the war. Genghis Khan dominated the world during his time because he had a weapon nobody else had. America won World War II with the atomic bomb. Same thing in MMA. I want to have a weapon that nobody else has.” –- Georges St. Pierre in an interview with MMA author Jonathan Snowden.

The Week Ahead

It's a stacked Wednesday, as Zuffa kicks off its ludicrously-thick December slate with World Extreme Cagefighting live from Las Vegas on Versus, headlined by Miguel Torres vs. Manny Tapia for the bantamweight title. That is followed by back-to-back episodes of "The Ultimate Fighter" on Spike TV, featuring the four fights that set up the final lightweight and light heavyweight bouts. Also, Sherdog.com continues its live event series, with the Dec. 5 streaming of FuryFC 7 from Brazil, featuring middleweight and lightweight tournaments, as well as the return of Antonio Schembri.
