The runner-up on Season 1 of “The Ultimate Fighter,” Florian fought for UFC gold on three different occasions in two separate weight classes, and though he failed in each of his bids, there is something to be said for persistence. He has dotted his resume with high-caliber opposition, with wins over two-division Deep champion Dokonjonosuke Mishima, American Top Team’s Din Thomas, “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 5 semifinalist Joe Lauzon, former Strikeforce lightweight titleholder Clay Guida, “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 2 winner Joe Stevenson and onetime Pride Fighting Championships lightweight king Takanori Gomi. Well-spoken and articulate, the 35-year-old Florian has become one of the UFC’s most effective ambassadors outside of the cage.
