4. Jon Jones Stripped of UFC Title
Jones was at the top of the MMA mountain and looked downright invincible at times. He had just beaten up archrival Daniel Cormier to retain the Ultimate Fighting Championship light heavyweight title at UFC 182. Not long after, word came that Jones had failed a pre-fight drug screen with traces of cocaine in his system. It was only the beginning of his troubles.
If the flunked test was not enough to raise concern, Jones was then involved in a hit-and-run accident that left a pregnant woman with a broken arm in Albuquerque, New Mexico. “Bones” fled the scene, only to return to grab a wad of cash. However, he forgot to snag his hash pipe before fleeing a second time. Jones was eventually stripped of his title, fined and suspended, his fall from grace stunning. At 28, he remains young and talented enough to regroup and rebuild his reputation. With that said, Jones did himself no favors in April, when he was caught on video insulting a police officer who had pulled him over. He received five traffic citations, which violated his parole and led to his being jailed for a day.
