4. Shane Carwin
Former Ultimate Fighting Championship interim heavyweight champ Carwin is the second straight entry with a wrestling background to make this list. In terms of his MMA striking, Carwin was a pure boxer and had a heavy right cross. Among 12 career wins, seven were by knockout, though a number of those occurred from inescapable ground-and-pound. In terms of standing knockouts in higher-level organizations, Carwin has three such triumphs; a 44-second dispatching of Christian Wellisch, a 1 minute, 9 second obliteration of Gabriel Gonzaga (known for a weak chin even then) and lastly, a first-round knockout of Frank Mir. Carwin had some early success striking with Brock Lesnar, but not enough to knock him out, losing in the second round. After being dominated by fellow striker Junior dos Santos in his next fight, Carwin retired. Clearly though, some still rate his power as being among the very greatest of all time.
