4. Jared Hess vs. Alexander Shlemenko
Bellator 20
May 27, 2010 | San Antonio

This injury was not one you noticed as it happened, but your stomach really took a lurch after Hess took a seat on the stool and the ringside physician put his knee back into place.

Everything went well for Hess in his Bellator MMA middleweight tournament semifinal against Shlemenko at the Majestic Theatre -- until the third frame. With “Storm” in top position, Hess pushed back his opponent; the Russian fighter seemed to let Hess upright. However, when Hess put weight on his knee, he could barely stand. Referee Jon Schorle was on top of the action, stopping the fight before anything worse could happen to the injured joint. The Oklahoman was angered by the stoppage, but after sitting on the stool and seeing his knee pop, he should have been thanking his lucky stars.
