4. Cristiane Justino
“Cyborg” has long been established as the most violent fighter in women’s MMA. She smashed Gina Carano into retirement in 2009 to claim the inaugural Strikeforce women’s featherweight title and has since blitzed anyone who made the mistake of getting in her way, including Marloes Coenen on two occasions.
Justino has looked virtually invincible over the last several years, which makes it even more difficult to believe that she got off on the wrong foot as a pro. The Chute Boxe star ran into Erica Paes at Showfight 2 in her debut on May 17, 2005 and submitted to a first-round kneebar. Paes lost her next bout and did not fight again for close to a decade. “Cyborg,” meanwhile, went back to the drawing board, learned from the adversity and became an utterly destructive force in the cage.
The current Invicta Fighting Championships featherweight titleholder, Justino has made it known that she wants to be part of the upcoming UFC card in her hometown of Curitiba, Brazil. Fans have been waiting to see “Cyborg” come to an Octagon near them, and it seems like only a matter of time before they get their wish.
