3. Robbie Lawler vs. Rory MacDonald 2

When the dust finally settled after this unbelievable war, many a fan and scribe were already proclaiming this as the greatest MMA fight that ever was. Though most of the time the reactions and such hyperbole are based in the heat of the moment and way off-base, but in the case of Lawler and MacDonald’s rematch, it’s hard to argue such claims.
Both men were busted up, both rocked and seemingly on the verge of being knocked out at any time throughout the duel. MacDonald, long accused of being a pretty boy who plays it safe, waged the sort of trench war that legends are made of. He took the best “Ruthless” Robbie had to offer and kept coming back, harder than before.
However, Lawler has bricks for fists and he finally put his adversary away when Rory’s nose was shattered so badly, the bridge literally was removed from his skull (X-rays showed this). With blood pouring from his face like a waterfall, MacDonald crumbled in a heap and the slugfest was over. Only two fights were better than this for different reasons.
