Nearly two years after their first encounter, Nguyen gets his rematch. The 28-year-old Australian finds himself on a four-fight winning streak as he prepares to challenge Gafurov for the One Championship featherweight title. Nguyen secured his position as the No. 1 contender in January, when he wiped out former two-division Deep champion Kazunori Yokota with first-round punches to improve to 8-1. Gafurov scored a 41-second submission on Nguyen in September 2015 and struck One Championship gold two months later. He has successfully defended his featherweight title on two subsequent occasions, besting the aforementioned Yokota and former champion Narantungalag Jadambaa.
