John Hathaway vs. Ricky Story

The Breakdown: Hyperactive English prospect John Hathaway takes on another would-be hype usurper in Rick Story, who is making his UFC debut. Both fighters are at their best when they have top control. Hathaway, however, is known for having the energy of a 12-year-old who’s consumed a pound of sugar. Fighting against less than competitive competition on the local circuit, Story has yet to take on someone who can play his game, never mind someone who can play it better than him.

The X Factor: Touring around the local European scene for most of his career, Hathaway hasn’t exactly been tested either and this will likely be the toughest test of his career thus far. The grind of living up to the expectations of the fight-starved European crowds and managing a young UFC career loaded up on hype is a toll that Hathaway may not be able to pay without flying off the skids.

The Bottom Line: One of the better matchups this undercard has will turn into a one-sided showcase for Hathaway. He should have no issues out-hustling Story in the clinch and on the mat.
