Jason MacDonald vs. Ryan Jensen

The Matchup: Both these 185-pounders have served as tests for up-and-coming talent and have served as benchmarks in the process. When at his best, MacDonald is a dangerous submission threat, seamlessly flowing from position to setup, using his lengthy, flexible frame to tap people. This is definitely a match where the loser almost certainly gets cut.

Jensen’s wrestling is slightly better. Their standup is negligible, with strikes being used mainly to close the distance and work grappling attacks. Both have been in a down cycle of late, losing often, albeit against solid competition. Jensen’s dropped six of 10, MacDonald six of his last 11.

The Pick: Jensen may have a little bit more at this point, at least considering the matchup, and if he can land a few good strikes on the feet, it will allow him to choose when he wants to take it to the mat. He will do just that and win via close decision.
