• A crop of new matches was reported for WEC 42 on Aug. 9 in Las Vegas. The promotion announced Jeff Curran and Takeya Mizugaki will clash in the semi-main event underneath the Miguel Torres vs. Brian Bowles bantamweight title fight. MMAJunkie.com reported Fredson Paixao will face Cole Province in a featherweight match. Additionally, Joseph Benavidez will face Dominick Cruz at bantamweight, according to FiveOuncesofPain.com, and Phil Cardella will face Ed Ratcliff in a lightweight showdown, according to MMAWeekly.com.

• Megumi Fuji, widely-regarded as the world’s top female mixed martial artist, will face her next test against Saori Ishioka on July 11 inside the Jewels promotion in Japan. The 114-pound fight will be contested over three five-minute rounds.
