• Lyoto Machida’s first light heavyweight title defense, against Mauricio "Shogun" Rua, has been penciled in for UFC 104 on October 24 in Los Angeles, Fiveouncesofpain.com reported.

• Leonard Garcia will return to the WEC against Jameel Massouh at WEC 42 on Aug. 9 in Las Vegas, according to MMAWeekly.com. Both fighters are coming off losses, Garcia to Mike Thomas Brown and Massouh to Rafael Assuncao.

• The Japanese "Sengoku" promotion announced a series of fights this week for its big Aug. 2 card at Saitama Super Arena. Longtime Pride heavyweight Kazuyuki Fujita will face Blagoi Ivanov, the Bulgarian who defeated Fedor Emelianenko in a sport sambo match last November in Russia. It will be Ivanov's pro MMA debut, while Fujita is 15-7 in MMA. Akihiro Gono will also be in action.

• Coming off his win over Gesias Cavalcante, Tatsuya Kawajiri will face K-1 legend Masato in a kickboxing superfight on July 13. Masato in on a retirement tour set to culminate on New Year’s Eve.
